What a great way to learn a new craft. The two instructors, Devran & Elif, were so helpful and filled with positive energy. The mosaic lamp turned out great, I may be coming back for another class!

Have you ever held a glowing Turkish mosaic lamp and thought, I'd love to make one of those? At our Mosaic Lamp Workshop in Leeds, that's exactly what you do. You sit down, choose your colours, place every piece of glass by hand, and walk away with a finished lamp that's completely yours. No craft experience needed — just a couple of hours and a real desire to make something beautiful.
From the moment you arrive everything is laid out and ready. Your instructor guides you through every stage — no rushing, no pressure, just an enjoyable couple of hours at your own pace.
-
1Choose your lamp style Pick from a candle holder, mini table lamp, tall table lamp, swan lamp, or moon lamp. Each has its own shape and character — your instructor can help you decide.
-
2Pick your colour palette Warm golds and reds, deep jewel tones, soft blues and greens — every colour decision is yours. There's no wrong answer.
-
3Place your glass and beads Following traditional Ottoman-inspired geometric and floral patterns, you place each piece of coloured glass and mosaic bead onto your frame by hand. This is the calming, meditative part — most people love it.
-
4Grout and finish We guide you through the finishing stage so your lamp looks clean, polished, and properly handmade — not a rough first attempt.
-
5Switch it on and take it home The moment your lamp glows for the first time — warm coloured light spreading across the walls — is genuinely something else. Wrap it up, it's yours to keep.
We take care of every single thing you need. Nothing to buy, nothing to prepare, nothing to bring.
Our Leeds mosaic lamp workshop takes place in Leeds city centre — easy to reach by public transport, close to parking, and a genuinely lovely setting for a creative afternoon. Full venue details are confirmed at the time of booking.
Everyone, honestly. We've had solo visitors wanting a mindful afternoon to themselves, couples on a proper date night, groups of friends celebrating birthdays, mums-to-be at baby showers, and hen parties who wanted something far more memorable than a standard Leeds night out. Whatever brings you through the door, you'll leave with a handmade Turkish mosaic lamp and an afternoon you'll genuinely remember.
If you're looking for a creative workshop in Leeds that's relaxed, social, and produces something beautiful — this is exactly it.
We offer private group sessions for hen parties, birthday groups, corporate team days, and special occasions. A dedicated instructor, a private space, and a proper step above the usual group activity. Head to our group workshops page or drop us a message and we'll organise everything.

How the Workshop Unfolds
-
Step 1. Choose Your Colours & Pattern
Begin by exploring colour combinations, glass pieces, and geometric templates. You’ll choose the style that feels most like you and plan the overall look of your lamp before you start placing each piece.
-
Step 2. Learn the Technique
Our instructors guide you through the essentials of traditional mosaic lamp making, including how to work with the template, position the tesserae, and build a balanced pattern with confidence. No prior experience is needed.
-
Step 3: Build Your Lamp Piece by Piece
Once your design is ready, you’ll carefully assemble your mosaic using glass pieces and beads, step by step. This is the most immersive part of the experience — calm, hands-on, and deeply satisfying as your lamp begins to take shape.
-
Step 4: Finish, Celebrate & Take It Home
By the end of the session, you’ll leave with your own handmade mosaic lamp and a piece that reflects your personal style. Along the way, you’ll enjoy a warm, social atmosphere with Turkish tea and treats served during the workshop.
